Those of you who know me are aware that for over fifteen years now, I have been saying that within my lifetime, the USA will divide itself up and become five different countries. And as it turns out, I recently learned there are five distinct power grids. Interesting coincidence? I had that "splitting into five countries" insight driving in my car one morning when the seemingly overnight collapse of the USSR was announced on my car radio. Apparently there is a very well-known futurist, Ray Kurzweil, who is saying the same thing now. What he does not say that I believe to be true is that Texas, which only came into the Union with the explicit agreement that it secede and become the Republic of Texas again without any argument in the matter, will be the first to separate.
(Note: after I sent out this newsletter I was corrected by a poli-sci professor on my mailing list. She says that Texas came into the Union with the agreement that it could separate into five states any time it wished; but everyone in Texas seems to believe the secession version. She went on to say many experts believe that we should secede anyway, since we have the 14th highest GNP in the world. Having travelled world-wide in her previous gig, she knows that much of the rest of the world does not consider Texans to be Americans, but considers us to be a different country. They like us even when "America" is not currently very popular.)
Yes, still I predict Texas will secede from the Union and lead the way for others to follow. When this process is complete, there will be no more superpowers to bully or wreak havoc on the world. Peace will have a chance. Another prediction of mine: Israel will lead the way in creating world peace.
I remind us all of the famous quote by Lord Acton, "Power tends to corrupt. Absolute power corrupts absolutely." I believe this applies to superpowers as well as people.

Ralph Miller of "Heart of the Initiate" discusses the looming major shift we all feel is coming. It talks about several events that have already happened, which no one saw coming or even believed were possible, yet did occur, and changed the entire world paradigm in a flash.
