What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient hands-on healing technique from Tibet, which has been adapted to modern use. The best way to understand Reiki is to feel it. Those who have experienced Reiki notice a pervasive feeling of calm, or heat coming from the hands of the practitioner, light inside their body, a sense of safety, a feeling of joy.different people experience different things according to individual needs and perceptual abilities. The most common observation is that the hands of the healer become quite hot. . One theory is that it is because Reiki is a form of light, only it's not in the visible range of light. Reiki is self-directing; it will go to the places in the body needing healing. While some people are now giving Reiki by holding their hands a few inches out into the aura, we believe that hands-on energy transmission is the best. Lois has been practicing Reiki since 1986, and has been a Master since 1988, so the energy has truly built to a high level in her energy channel. Students consider it a great honor to study with her.
Reiki can be used on animals and plants as well as humans! Pets absolutely love this energy.

Since Lois became a Reiki Master in 1988, she is one of the most experienced Masters in the Southwest USA. She has been initiating and teaching Reiki for 20 years, and things have changed a lot in that period of time. Once upon a time it was appropriate to have people take level one, and wait at least six months to a year before they took the second level. Time has speeded up. Our vibratory frequency and that of the earth has speeded up. People can handle energy better and faster, and run more energy through themselves much more easily, with fewer side effects, if any. These are wonderful times.
Therefore, for about the past six years Lois has been initiating people into levels one and two in the same day. There have been no ill effects. People get the energy perfectly. They understand what they need to understand, plus she sends home her manual for their review. Lois' students/initiates can transmit Reiki energy easily - she checks to make sure. These are gentle yet powerful initiations.
Also, Lois is qualified by the state of Texas as a teacher to people from age 5 through graduate school - so she knows how to teach effectively, without wasting time. (Very few Reiki Masters are also state certified teachers - meaning Lois has studied education/how to teach, in college.) In Lois' opinion, it is poor teaching technique (and spiritually incorrect) to drag out the classes over several days in order to charge more money. These initiations are very affordable, as you may have noticed.
Most people additionally have already read something about Reiki before coming to class these days. Back in the beginning there were no books on Reiki, none at all. Lois had to teach everything from scratch. No one knew anything when they came to her Reiki classes. That is different now, too, since most people have read something about it already. So again, it takes less time to teach both levels than it once did.

Reiki is Life Changing.
This is an initiation to the soul, not just to the individual in this lifetime. It is therefore important to consider carefully whom you choose to initiate you. People who receive Lois' Reiki training will usually tell some interesting story about how it caused a change in the personal life, one that was beneficial. Those who do not make the connection between positive changes and Reiki training are few. Amazing things have happened to Lois' initiates. One woman broke up with an abusive boyfriend, is now taking back her power in all of her relationships, and is doing her spiritual work on a much larger scale than before. Another person has learned to do psychic readings and is now doing those for others professionally. One person has found her soulmate, moved in with him, and is opening a yoga center soon. Yet another woman has gone to massage school, changed jobs, & found her soulmate. One female initiate, a doctor, was cured of lifelong asthma, and yet another woman had lymph nodes, which her doctor had wanted to biopsy, disappear within a few days of her initiation. A gentleman in his sixties remarried within the year of his training after having been divorced for thirty years! Another man got a new job in a new city and found a house he could better afford within one month of training, resulting in a significant lowering of his stress level. A thirty-nine year old woman with difficulty conceiving got pregnant after her Reiki Master Initiation by Lois. These kinds of changes have been observed too often for us to think that they are coincidence.

Reiki energy is channeled through the practitioner's hands to anyone needing healing, including oneself. It creates an electro-magnetic balance all the way to the cellular level in the physical body. It also balances the emotional and spiritual bodies of the individual. It opens one to the causes of dis-ease, stress, pain & fear, allowing one to take responsibility for her/her own wellness and joy.
People often ask if this is the same energy that some people have naturally in their hands. It is similar, but not the same. We are all born with a certain amount of magnetic healing ability in the hands, some have more of it than others. Reiki, however, has electro-magnetic properties, the benefits of which are explained more fully in class. This energy is much more powerful than that with which we are born.
What Happens in a Training Session?
Most of the time is spent teaching the history of Reiki, where it came from, how it was rediscovered, and some other important facts about the healing art. Certain spiritual subjects related to healing are covered, including ethics. Some time is spent learning hand positions and how to treat specific imbalances. There is an initiation period which involves a group guided journey. There is also plenty of time to practice on each other. You will be taught how to heal at a distance at level two. Lois will send you home with written materials to study further at your leisure, as you wish. She is also available to answer questions after your training session is over. The phone is always a great way to touch base after you are initiated if you have questions when you get into the actual practice of Reiki.
Each course comes complete with a certificate of completion suitable for framing. While Lois does not feel that the Reiki lineage is terribly important, hers is listed below for those who are interested in such things.

Reiki Master Class
You will be taught some new information, and then initiated into the final level of Reiki. You will give and receive Reiki in class. The energy in your hands will become more powerful and the vibration will feel more refined. You will also learn how to initiate others into Reiki.
