The Pink Lotus is the symbol of higher consciousness!
The Pink Lotus is the symbol of higher consciousness!

No experience on earth can bring one closer to one’s own Soul than that of dreaming. It is an ordinary, everyday experience which is deeply profound. Yet most of us take dreams for granted, or blow them off, or simply "choose" not to remember any dreams. Some dreams are just the "subconscious" reworking events of the past few days or the experience of leaving the body to travel afar at night. Yet many dreams are the Soul trying to communicate through one of the best languages we have in common with it. This language is that of visual symbology. Some of these dreams are so powerful that we are emotionally impacted for days afterwards. We wonder what they mean, and sometimes we know part of it. Often the deepest meaning of the dream is not fully understood for years.

I will share with you one of the most powerful dreams of my life. This dates from my own life prior to the time that I began to understand the meanings of my dreams. In the dream I was studying at a library table with my friend, Joy. It was kind of dark in there, and there were many other tables in this library, but no one else was in the library. We were not talking, just studying. At some point I noticed that a middle aged woman in a abrown dress with her hair in a bun was quietly standing beside me. As I looked at her she gestured to me to follow her. Joy never looked up from her books. I followed the woman down some stairs (we were in a theatre in the round, the tables being where the seats should have been) toward the center. In the center of the stage was a brightly glowing, golden pyramid, about 12-13 feet high. There was an open trapezoidal shaped door in the center of the side of the pyramid closest to me. Beside the door stood a blonde, blue-eyed man wearing only a loin cloth. He had the body of a yogi or a swimmer.

There was absolutely nothing sexual about this man. He had lots of blonde hair on his body, and it seemed to glow. In fact, he seemed to glow himself. The man gestured that I should enter the pyramid. I did and he followed. There was only one item in the pyramid. At its very center there was a brown wooden box, about four feet wide, a foot and a half deep, and three feet high. The top was open, with no lid. A blindingly bright white light was coming out of the box. The man reached inside and pulled out a book. The book was very large and very, very old. It had a case covering it which was open at the bottom. A strap of some kind kept the book from falling out the bottom. The case was made of gold and had a sculpted lion’s head sitting on top with its mouth open in a roar. The man handed the book to me, in an almost ritualistic manner. He had great respect for the book, and it was reflected in the way he handed it to me. I took the book and held it in front of me just the way he had. He gestured for me to follow him. I did. We walked out of the pyramid, up the stairs to the library tables, and past Joy, who never once looked up. He then led me to a place I had not noticed before. Behind my library table and to the left had been some more stairs, which led only upwards. They reminded me of the kind of stairs which lead out of a subway into the light of day. It was lighter up there. As I walked behind this man, I noticed he was glowing like the wax of a large candle whose wick has burned below the upper edge of the wax. Even his hair glowed. Then I was outside my body and able to see myself from behind. The ends of my hair were beginning to glow, too, because I was following him. And I knew that one day my whole being would glow just as his did.

What did this dream mean? I was not to know the full meaning for ten years. But initially I knew it felt like a powerful, life changing, momentous harbinger. Which indeed, it was. Not understanding this dream made me take my first dream interpretation class. After telling the dream to the teacher, I was told that I should be teaching the class instead of her. She asked if I knew who that man was in the dream. I said I thought it was someone very important, like the Archangel Michael, or something. She said that no, that was the Ascended Master called Jesus. Of course, I said that I was under the impression the Jesus had brown hair. She explained that he had had many incarnations and that Jesus was his favorite lifetime, but that he preferred the blonde, blue-eyed yogic body of a different lifetime. Since then I have learned that most teachers in the higher realms of spirituality agree that Jesus, when he appears in physical form, does so a a blue-eyed blonde. This teacher allowed as how she had never had anyone nearly that important appear to her in dreams, so I should be teaching her. I explained that, although he had appeared to me, I still had no idea what to make of it and could therefore teach nothing. This was at the conscious start of my spiritual journey in this lifetime.

So just what did that dream mean? Joy and I were learning similar lessons in life at that time, which is why we were studying at the same table. We were both in rather dark places emotionally, hence the darkened room. Who the lady with the bun was is still a mystery. The golden pyramid is the universal symbol of spiritual growth, as well as a personal reminder of my many lifetimes in ancient Egypt. The book was the Akashic Records, which is the recording device of all the lifetimes anyone has ever had on this planet. No wonder Jesus held it in such respect! The lion of gold as a cover is symbolic of the soul’s accomplishments. A golden lion almost always means this in a "soul level" dream. How fitting that the record of our past lives is "covered" by our collective Souls’ accomplishments!

Years later I discovered that I have the ability to instantly access anyone’s past lives at any time if I enter a trance state. I deeply know that I can do this only because He gave me that book. He was literally giving me access to the Akashic Records. (The only time I am unable to access the Records is if the individual’s soul does not want the individual to know something at that time. A soul might do this to protect the person’s ego/personality from disintegration or for other important reasons.) Obviously, following Jesus made my hair begin to glow because deciding to follow Him raised my vibration. But the reader probably already figured that out. I awoke feeling profoundly changed. That feeling has stayed with me forever. I suppose I could have been given that book without my Soul ever letting me in on it, but then would I ever have taken a dream interpretation class? Would I have ever tried to do past life readings?

As I said earlier, dreams come on different levels, with different reasons for coming to us. But the most important ones are from the Soul and are an attempt at communication. It is for us to become familiar with the language we have in common with the Soul, that of visual symbols. A first step is to take the dreams seriously enough to write them down, and then look them up in a book on dream symbols, such as "Watch Your Dreams" by Ann Ree Coulton, or take a dream interpretation class as I did.

May there be magic in your dreaming!
