Please look for my article "Closer to Nature" in the upcoming December 2005 "Indigo Sun" Magazine. It is about natural cures and our ability to access them.
Recommended Book:
I have just read a book which I highly recommend to everyone. It is called "The Field" by Lynne McTaggart. You can buy it on Amazon.com. In this book, McTaggart has done what Gary Zukav did in "Dancing Wu Li Masters," which is to bring together the research of a large group of cutting-edge scientists who are working separately. Only her book does this for a later group of researchers and theorists than the ones Zukav wrote about in the late 1970's. This book is mostly about the scientific proof that there is a Conscious Universe out there/in here, within which we are all inter-connected, as if in a vast web. The second half of the book is all about research into "remote-viewing" done by the CIA and the Army and the same group of scientists she has been discussing earlier in the book. She also gets into the collective unconscious, and "distant healing" and how those work. This is one of those books that can so completely shift your paradigm that you are never the same again.
Natural Cures:
Sunlight is again being researched as a healing factor. Back in the 1940's exposure to the sun was used in the treatment of tuberculosis. It is also known to be effective in fighting cancers, like breast, colon, ovarian and prostate. (WDDTY, Vol. 16, No. 9) Sunshine may also prevent psoriasis, heart disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, multiple sclerosis. (Ibid) Yet those with a tendency to skin cancer still need to avoid direct exposure to the sun. In areas where there is insufficient sunlight for part of the year, full spectrum lighting is recommended as it has has the proper UV waves, but ordinary lightbulbs do not, and tanning beds (don't use them!) have the healing type of UV waves removed. In a study in Florida full spectrum light was shown to strengthen immunity, help fight depression, and to be effective against seasonal affective disorder. If you want to know more, google Dr. John Ott; he is a strident champion of full spectrum lighting.
Where to buy these light bulbs? Any grocery or discount store under the trade name "Reveal." I have been using full spectrum lighting for about 20 years, initially because I was doing paintings indoors. In the beginning they were marketed only for artists in specialty lighting shops, and were ghastly expensive. Not any more. Their price is equivalent to ordinary incandescent bulbs. I buy mine at the local Target store. It is a really inexpensive anti-depressant.
Bee Propolis is also called Russian penicillin, because of all the research the Russians have put into this supplement. It is made by bees from plant resins and is spread all over the inside of their hives. It is antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral. It has been recently used successfully as a treatment for the common cold, candidiasis, stomach ulcers, rheumatic diseases, liver diseases, and recurrent genital herpes. Recently it has also been studied as an aid to dental health. It rebuilds bone, aids the repair of surgical wounds, and has painkilling and anti-inflammatoary effects. If you want to learn more about the source of these experiments with bee propolis, email me. Bee propolis can be found on the internet and at health food stores.
Wolfberries or Gogi Berries are essentially the same thing from different regions of Asia, both being species of lyceum berries, and are touted as being some of the best anti-oxidant foods, with all the essential nutrients, that exist on the planet. (Okay, there are several fruits for which that is claimed as well.) They are antiageing and improve the macrophage phagocytic function in animals. They assist the spleen lymphocyte transformation and strengthen the T cell immune response. Source: http://www.naturalhealthway.com/wolfberry/wolberrystudies/wolberrystudies.html
These berries taste really, really good, by the way. They are reddish, about the size of raisins, and should be cooked and drained before eating. There is some kind of toxin, apparently, that the cooking and draining removes, according to the Chinese doc I consulted. They are quite costly if ordered from some of the multi-level companies or on the internet. However, if you live in the Houston area, you might want to know that they can be purchased at the Hong Kong City Market at the intersection of Boone and Bellaire. They have a grocery store that has the most interesting foods, as well as a full service Asian style pharmacy inside with all the goodies that implies (shark fins hanging from the ceiling, even)! Their dried gogiberries are in cellophane packages and cost less than half the price at which I have been able to find them on the internet, which is much less expensive yet than what the multi-level sources are. Let me know if you want me to pick some up for you the next time I am out there. (It is quite a drive!) I will happily mail some to you if you are interested and do not live near Houston. To read more about gogiberries: just google wolfberries or gogiberries. They are apparently two different names for the same plant, lycium barbarum.

Photo of the berries, hopefully.

A big "thanks" to Janice Brugioni, CBP, for telling me about the following:
Seriously, this you won't believe unless you read it yourself. A former Canadian Defense Minister talks about UFO's and Bush's possible intergalactic war. Seriously.

And I think I will just stop right there.
