Essential Oil Tips!
Bergamot & Lavendar for fever blisters, etc.

ESSENTIAL OILS TIPS:

In another newsletter I mentioned that lavendar and bergamot essential oils are good for clearing up herpes outbreaks if you apply it before the sores break open.   I am passing this on because I actually tried it on a fever blister, and it worked for me.  I have since discovered that Bergamot makes the skin photosensitive.  So do not put it on your lip, face, hands, etc. and go out into the sun. (The sun makes fever blisters worse, anyway.)

Lime juice does the same thing.  I once developed a very strange looking purpleish-brown patch on my right thumb, and made an appointment to see my friend Sharon, who teaches dermatology at UTMB, about it.  She asked if I had been making gin and tonics. No, but I had been making fresh squeezed limeade and then taking my baby outside to play in the backyard wading pool.  Apparently bergamot does the same thing lime juice does.  Makes the skin "tan" or turn funny colors. So don't put bergamot on and go outside, unless it is on areas well covered by clothing. Just use the lavendar oil when going outside.

ACNE REMEDY:

I recently came up with a formula to assist one of my BodyTalk clients who has adult acne.  It is working well for her, so I thought I would share it.

Most people are unaware that people with oily skin need to moisturize the skin.  When oily skin gets washed and not moisturized it says, "Oooo...dry....need to moisturize myself!" and then oozes more oil.  But, if right after you wash your face you moisturize, it does not need to secrete more oil.  So here is the regimen.

1. Wash face with Neutrogena for oily skin.

2. Moisturize with unscented Oil of Olay (which is not oily at all, but hydrating).

3. Put several drops of Sandalwood Essential Oil (again, not oily) in your hands and pat it all over your face.  Sandalwood is really good for acne control.  And it smells heavenly; a very nice smell on both men and women.

(It would probably work just as well if you just added sandalwood to the Oil of Olay.)

Oh and gads, PLEASE DO NOT GET BERGAMOT AND SANDALWOOD CONFUSED!

If you have any tips you want to share with this group (now over 400 people) let me know, and I will pass it along!
