The Pink Lotus is the symbol of higher consciousness!
The Pink Lotus is the symbol of higher consciousness!

As the new energies emerge on this plane, or as the vibration increases, and more of us are becoming psychic/intuitive, it seems important to discuss the ethical use of our abilities. Many of us on the path are carefully working at becoming fully conscious of what we are doing at all times. We believe it important to practice ethical spirituality. I offer the following as food for thought.

About a year ago I opened a small metaphysical establishment and began interfacing with larger numbers of people on the spiritual path. I have begun noticing that vast numbers of people are waking up, and taking up their spiritual mastership, due to the faster energies now coming in to this plane. This is the beginning of what those of us who have been working in spirituality have longed for all these many years. I rejoice in this! I do, really. I rejoice, and I worry a little. I will tell you about this worry, and perhaps you will agree, perhaps not.

The faster energy is waking people up who have not had the benefit of many years of meditation and spiritual classes to prepare them to handle being "muti-sensory. Because of this energy, we are seeing lots of instant experts in metaphysics. This puts me in mind of children playing with guns. Most of these "newbies" are totally unabashed about doing a spontaneous reading for a total stranger. This is a big no-no, at least within every spiritual discipline that I have ever studied it is. Just as we do not walk over to the neighbor's house and look into the windows because we have eyes, we also do not peer into the personal depths of an individual's life without permission because our third eye is opening. If we accidentally do see something that is none of our business, we are to look away. There are repercussions from misuse of intuitive abilities. It is most adharmic. We can ask others if they would like a reading. And in the telling, we are obligated to be kind.

Perhaps I am in a social setting and notice that someone has darkness in the area of the liver. Maybe a death from hepatitis or liver cancer is exactly what this soul needs to experience in order to grow from this particular lifetime. This person has not come for a healing or reading. So I keep my mouth shut. It is not my job to interfere. And I will tell you this. I have seen many forms of cancer with my third eye. Some are like deep black holes. But certain types of cancer look like beautiful tiny stars, pinpoints of light circulating throughout the physical body. I cannot tell you what this means, only that it is beautiful, and that I know from the look and feel of it that it somehow is a good thing. It is of the Light, and transformative in nature. I have never heard anyone else say this, but I know what I see. Some cancers are a choice for growth by the soul. Maybe they all are, I don't know. My spiritual guides tell me we will understand many things we have forgotten about the nature of reality when we get to the other side.

A favorite incarnate spiritual teachers, Elias de Mohan, long ago told me to answer only the question asked. He was right. This is just another way of saying that it is our duty not to volunteer too much information. If that person's soul wants him or her to know what you know, it will open the door somehow. It used to be that people meditated and studied for years before becoming psychic/intuitive, and spiritual principles were already deeply ingrained in them before they had the abilities. Now this opening to intuitive knowledge seems to be happening without what were once the spiritual prerequisites. Meditation is the best way to increase our intuitive abilities because it fine-tunes the body to accept the entrance of the soul's vibration and therefore its guidance. Of course, one can be born intuitive and blurt out impressions as a child will do. I do not know about the experience of others, but I shut down totally at a very early age because of the trouble I got into with my mother for blurting out "readings". I did not begin to open again until I was in my late twenties and began meditating. By then I had learned more discretion.

Discretion, kindness, non-judgement and good boundaries, these are the underpinnings of the ethical use of intuitive abilities, or so it seems to me.  If you have comments or questions you are welcome to email me.
